I am using this reciever starting July'86 ,It is still working in my Shack , especially for the low bands . The Cup is for the 1st place in Israel , SWL Category , in the "Holyland Dx Contest -1998" .For those who ask who i am , just look at QRZ.com , can't say here anything else except that i am an IOTA Smurf !

On the 19 December 2007 , Petrus ZS6GCM was granted a temporary permission to operate an Amateur Radio Station for the duration of the 2007/2008 scientific expedition from Bouvet Island .
The call sign will be 3YØE .

Polar Ship "R/V Tangaroa" - January 2008

It was announced this past weekend that Wilbert / ZL2BSJ , will take part in an ocean ographicmission as technician near ZL7 and ZL9 on board of a research vessel called "R/V Tangaroa" in January 2008 and will activate that very wanted New Zealand research vessel .

8J1RL-Syowa Base ,IOTA AN-015 -Confirmed



Today the 8J1RL QSL Card arrived here via direct .
IOTA AN-015 , Syowa Base , Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition ,WABA JA-02 .
Special thanks to Stan /SQ8AQD and to Kimio/ JA9BOH who helped me to get this New one !
Kimio was based in Syowa on January 2000 as 40th party member .
The first QSL Card is for the 38th Party Operation in 8J1RL and the second QSL is for the 40th Party Operation in 8J1RL by Kimio /JA9BOH .

ZD9BCB, Gough Island SANAP Base -IOTA AF-030



Brian / ZD9BCB who is actually on Gough Island , was spotted few moments ago at 17:58 GMT, on Clusters on 14.315 MHz , the Antarctic Net !
Gough Island is uninhabited nature reserve and there are no other buildings but the SANAP station .
SANAP weather station is managed by the Southern Africa National Antarctic Program and is now valid for the "Antarctic Challenge " .

Grigoriy Mikheev Polar Ship - by F6DWQ


Mehdi /F5PFP , inform that , Michel /F6DWQ ( ex:FB8ZP ) has just received the permission to operate on board of the M/V Grigoriy Mikheev polar ship .
That vessel made several supply missions to Antarctica and this
operation will be valid as polar ship for the Antarctic Challenge .
Michel should start to transmit July 15th and for 2 weeks .

VP8ROT -Rothera Base on Adelaide Island ,Antarctica





I have just logged VP8ROT on the 20m band ,was replying to Ivan UR9IDX CQ's Call at 17:43 Utc and talked with him until 17:47 Utc , name of Operator was Tris . Ivan gave him a 59 report and i have logged him with a 56 report . 07 May '07 on the Log , first time for this Base .
This is IOTA AN-001 , is located at Rothera Base on Adelaide Island in Antarctica .
I will send Mike GM0HCQ his Manager a QSL tommorow morning .
Not a New one but definatelly a Rare operation , it is always nice to hear and log such Antarctic stations !
